This month, I joined the Secret Recipe Club, created by Amanda of Amanda’s Cookin’. The idea behind this club is to give bloggers the chance to try each other’s recipes without the other bloggers knowing it until the assigned publish date. Each blogger is assigned a “secret” blog and asked to make a recipe from that blog. I was thrilled to discover that I was assigned to make something from Cook Lisa Cook. I immediately went to her site to scour her blog for ideas.
I had never been to Lisa’s blog before which is part of the reason why I joined the Secret Recipe Club. I wanted to meet “new-to-me” bloggers and force myself to work with recipes outside of my normal rotation. I started scrolling from top to bottom. The first recipe I spotted was her Potato Salad with Bacon. She had me at bacon.
I continued scrolling through her blog archive and saw another brilliant post with bacon: Grilled Corn and Bacon Pudding. Be still my beating heart. I noted a number of other recipes I wanted to try and set out to make her Mango Lassi. I was immediately drawn to this recipe for several reasons. With the ridiculous heat wave we have had in this area I wanted to make something that would be refreshing. This drink was the perfect remedy. I also wanted to try something that did not involve baking because as you can tell I love to bake. Finally, I wanted to make something I had never had before. I can’t believe it took me this long to try this incredibly refreshing drink. I’m so glad I joined the Secret Recipe Club and had a chance to make something from Lisa’s blog because this recipe is a gem.
