Growing fresh herbs is always something I’ve wanted to do. I grew up in a home that had a garden where fresh herbs were readily available. Right now we don’t have space outside to plant a garden. I tried to do a windowsill garden but our house doesn’t get enough sun. Unfortunately, for now, I have to rely on store bought herbs.
One of the reasons I would love to have fresh herbs on hand is to be able to make Basil Pesto anytime I wanted to. When I received my assignment for this month’s Secret Recipe Club, I focused on looking for a dish that would give me a great reason to play with fresh herbs.
There is nothing as amazing as using fresh Basil Pesto in a dish. Forget the jar stuff. The Basil Pesto is incredibly easy to make and works really well with many dishes including Ellie’s chicken dish. I love that she seasoned the chicken in advance. It gives the dish a nice little kick.
