Boozy Hot Apple Cider

Friday is one of my favorite days for so many reasons. It’s the end of what always seems to be a crazy work week. It means pizza for dinner and it means it’s time for another one of Creative Culinary’s Friday Cocktails series. Each week she shares her favorite cocktails as well as specialty drinks and foods from local establishments. It is a very popular series for obvious reasons.

I wrote to Barb recently to let her know that I was going to do a little homage to her series and post a cocktail of my own on a Friday. The time came and the post that was supposed to be a labor of love turned into a near meltdown. It turned into a post I aptly titled “The Saddest Pomegranate Margaritas Ever.” Thankfully, Barb recently invited me to participate in celebrating the anniversary of her series. I was able to get a redo and I did it up right this time.

I’m sharing one of my favorite drinks for cooler weather. I’m pleased to report there were no meltdowns for this post. Nothing but fun!

Stop by Creative Culinary to see the Martini with Goat Cheese Bruschetta Olive Tapenade that Barb chose to celebrate her anniversary as well as the numerous other bloggers who shared their own cocktails to celebrate the series.

Happy Friday!!!

Recipe from Bon Appetit

3 tablespoons (packed) golden brown sugar

4 whole cloves

Ground nutmeg

Bring first 5 ingredients to simmer in medium saucepan. Remove from heat; cover and let steep 15 minutes. Add 2 tablespoons chilled butter to saucepan; bring to simmer. Remove from heat. Stir in bourbon and lemon juice. Strain into large measuring cup. Divide hot cider among 4 mugs. Cut 1 tablespoon butter into 4 pieces. Add 1 piece to each mug. Sprinkle nutmeg over.

Looks like the perfect drink to be sipping on a chilly Fall evening while huddled around the last of the season’s bonfires.

Glad you this post went off without a hitch! Just read your *Saddest Pomegranate Margaritas Ever*…so glad that you never broke any bones during that tumble off the bike.

I know what I am making on the first cool night we have here in So Cal (not holding my breath though, supposed to hit high 80’s/90’s today, ugh). This drink sounds perfect – love apples, bourbon and all those “caramelly” (ok, I just made up a word) flavors!!

I ‘SO’ want to curl up with this on a cold night in front of the fireplace. I feel warm, spicy and cozy just looking at it! I think I can smell it too!
