Spooky Cookie Truffles

You don’t exactly have to twist my arm to get me to make a dessert. When my nephew requested that we make Spooky Oreo Truffles again I was happy to oblige. It’s the type of dessert kids love to make. It gives them a chance to get their hands messy while being creative at the same time.

Our designs improved a bit but I have to admit the best part about making these is always the giggles that go along with laughing at all the spooky decorations we come up.

You can make this recipe with any type of cookie as long as you follow the amounts listed. Check out the close-ups on some of our creations.

The finished product is incredibly sweet. You really only need one of these to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Spooky Cookie Truffles

Ingredients

16 ounces of cookies

8 ounce package of cream cheese, softened

2 packages white chocolate baking bars

1/4 cup milk chocolate chips

Directions

Place cookies into a gallon Ziploc bag. Zip the bag but leave a small airspace so that the bag does not pop when you are crushing the cookies.

Crush the cookies with a hard object, such as a rolling pin or by hand. (Kids love being able to pound on the cookies with their hands.)

Place the crushed cookies into a large bowl. Add the softened cream cheese.

Use a mixing spoon to mix the cream cheese with the crushed cookies. Mix until the cookies and cream cheese are well-blended.

Line a baking sheet with wax paper.

Shape the cookie mixture into approximately 48 1-inch balls. Lay the balls on the wax paper. Refrigerate until cold and set (approximately 30 minutes). It is important to allow the balls to get cold so that they are easier to work with when coating them in the white chocolate.

Melt the white chocolate in a small microwave-safe bowl.

Coat the balls in the white chocolate and place back on the sheet of wax paper. Place the balls back in the freezer for 15-20 minutes to allow the white chocolate to harden.

Melt the milk chocolate in a small microwave-safe bowl. Dip a toothpick into the chocolate and use it to draw spooky faces on the truffles.

Chill until ready to serve.
