You know you need to drink water to stay hydrated. You know it’s healthy for you but if you are like me you are simply tired of drinking it. You also likely did not drink nearly enough water this past holiday season. I drank too much wine and ate too many cookies but I don’t regret a single calorie.
This Strawberry, Lemon, Cucumber, and Mint Water recipe is a way of jazzing up your daily water intake to get you moving in a healthy direction for 2015.
There are many variations on this recipe. You can add watermelon instead of cucumber, lime instead of lemon or throw in some other fresh fruit like blueberries to give the water a unique burst of flavor. I have to admit my first thought after making this was how awesome it would taste mixed with some wine. I’m slightly obsessed with drinking sangria but I’m pleased to report I resisted the urge to turn this into a boozy beverage.
During the winter I make this a budget friendly recipe by buying the ingredients in bulk at a local produce stand. I typically don’t enjoy fruit from the produce stand off-season because it does not taste that great but the flavors blend together well once the fruit is combined in the water. I could not stop drinking it the last time I made it. I think I was so dehydrated and worn down from the merriment of the holiday season that this simple drink felt so refreshing.
